I would love to see Gillian Welch! I’ve seen her at Merlefest and the last two times I had tickets to go back to the festival, I was unable to go; once because of a back injury and then because of training for a new job. I am long overdue for some more Gillian Welch!! All of the other bands sound great too…I’ve seen Onward Soldiers and would be excited to be introduced to some new bands that I’ve never seen. There is nothing better than seeing live music outside:-)

  2. Vicky Phillips says:

Would love to see Benji Hughes! I am a big fan and try to catch his show whenever he’s in town. He’s a talented songwriter and very entertaining!

I would be thrilled to win the Gillian Welch tickets. Her music helped me through a long pregnancy and now that the kid is here, I never get out to see music.

I would love to attend Winoca Fest. My favorite song of Gillian Welch is Revelator. In the last couple of months I went trough so many negavite things and this song really has a calming affect on me. I love the lyrics! “I drive in to corning and all the spindles whine
    and everyday is getting straighter.”

  7. David says:

I really love Gillian Welch; her music is the music I always searched for, the music that keeps in your mind the whole time, the music you remember when you’re doing everything, it’s the different music. the heart music. and easily my favorite song by her would have to be her beautiful version of “Make Me A Pallet On The Floor.”

  8. Dawn says:

Gillian Welch’s new album, the Harrow and the Harvest, is amazing and my favorite is “That is the way it goes” – because that is just how life is! You have to accept it for what it is and love every minute of it! I would love to go to the Winoca Fest!! Thank you for the opportunity!

  9. david in ilm says:

My name is David Smith. And thanks! I will!

  14. David says:

That’s me. If the person coming to pick up the tickets doesn’t look like that, don’t give them to them lolololol.

  15. kasandra edge says:

My favorite Gillian is super difficult to determine because album after album, she amazes, soothes, and inspires the spirit. Since I really hope to win tickets to the fest, I’d have to say Red Clay Halo Revelator and One Monkey!!

  16. matt.thayer says:

Hard Times, from The Harrow and The Harvest is a great song for listening over and over… as I watch the tobacco grow on long hot summer drives (windows down)…. and it reminds of one of my all-time fave songs… Johnny Russell’s Catfish John…It would be awesome to see Gillian and Dave perform..thanks for the opportunity…Cheers, Matthew

  17. david in ilm says:

do i need to re-enter each week?

  18. Jennifer Brooks says:

Gillian’s song, “No One Knows My Name” absolutely speaks to me. Such a moving song as it tells a story, one that I can identify with. I would love and it would mean a lot to me if I was the winner of these Winoca Fest tickets. Thank you soo much.

  19. Doug Thornton says:

My favorite Gillian Welch song is “Orphan Girl”. She creates music with a feeling from long ago that you may not have experienced, but yearn for because of the void in today’s modern music.

  20. Erica says:

I really like the song Hard Times by Gillian Welch right now because we all have things going on in our heads and it hard not to let them “rule your mind” but this song brings positivity! Please brighten my day with tickets to see her!!!!

  21. Alyssa says:

My favorite Gillian Welch song is “One More Dollar”. I moved away from my family who lived in a small town in the Northeast surrounded by hills. I had never really appreciated the beauty of this town when I was younger, and have recently come to realize just how beautiful and peaceful it is there, among the hills.

  22. Mary Katherine Creel says:

I’ve always been fond of Gillian Welch’s song, Orphan Girl. Sad, but also comforting.

  23. admin says:

please, david ilm! thanks for playing!

  24. Brittny says:

As a native Ohioan, my favorite Gillian Welch song would have to be “Look at Miss Ohio.”

  25. Andrea Fluty says:

I Would *love* to win Gillian Welch (and other bands I don’t know but am excited to learn about) tickets! My favorite song is ‘Paper Wings’. Gillian is so gifted at channeling a bygone era of music and taking things from it to make it her own. It also makes me want to learn how to waltz, because it seems like a song you should waltz to.

  26. Jessica Smith says:

My favorite Gillian Welch song is the Elvis Presley Blues, which is not only incredibly catchy but very moving — i love the lyrics “just a country boy, that combed his hair….put on a shirt his mother made, and he went on the air…and he shook it like a chorus girl, he shook it like a Harlem queen…” Speaks to the poignancy of giving your all to your craft, your passion, and how easy it is to give more than you can afford to part with. Would LOVE to win tickets to Winoca Fest! Thanks for the opportunity.

  27. admin says:

Alyssa! You win! Congrats! Tell us your last name, and feel free to drop by the office Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5pm, to pick up the tickets. Your explanation for loving “One More Dollar” reads like the start of a new Gillian song! Congrats.

Everyone else, keep playing. We’ll draw again next week on Thursday!

  28. Carl Wallin says:

Personally, I would love to win tickets to see Gillian, but my daughter would be over the moon! We will play our Gillian station on Pandora or just pop on her “The Harrow & The Harvest” album, and my daughter just starts dancing. She calls it her “Mountain Music” and loves it like no other. She is only 3 going on 4, but she loves her some Gillian. It would be great to actually see her dance to Gillian LIVE! Thanks again for the contest!

  29. kasandra edge says:

Red Clay Halo is probably my favorite song. It’s a snappy, earth hopping tune, rich with honest grit. I’m hoping to take my young son, Kyote, with me to share in the Gillian experience!!

  30. Richard Whitaker says:

My favorite Gillian Welch song is “Everything Is Free”

  31. Alyssa says:

Awesome!!! Thank you so much!! My last name is Fuller! And I will stop in next week to pick them up! Thanks again! 🙂

  32. matt.thayer says:

Hard Times is great (my 1st choice last week). Silver Dagger… is also a wonderful song, because lyrically it riffs heavy and reinvents You are My Sunshine…. plus, a perfect harmonica solo…cheers, matt

  33. Gareth says:

We would love to win Gillian tickets. My favourite has to be “One Little Song,” as it reminds me to keep being creative even though you might despair that your work isn’t all you’d like it to be.

  34. Brittny Roller says:

In addition to “Look at Miss Ohio,” I love “I Want to Play That Rock and Roll,” mostly because Dave Rawlings’ guitar solo mercilessly rocks.

  35. David Clark says:

If you should come across any Queensryche tickets at the HOB I would be grateful if I could have two. Their shows are amazing and it’s been a long time since I’ve had the pleasure. 2000.

  36. Catherine says:

I’d love to win Chords for a Cause tickets!
