Artfuel.inc is located at the corner of Wrightsville Ave. and 17th st. From its location, which used to be an old filling station, we seek to fuel art by providing a space for artists to exhibit and connect with each other as well as providing art as fuel for the public mind. Resident artists are available to view at work and to take commisions in the studio alongside the gallery.
Bottega Art and Wine Gallery Voted Best Art Gallery in encore, Bottega is located in historic downtown Wilmington. The contemporary art gallery continues to showcase the innovation of both regional and international artists with a focus on canvas, paperworks and sculpture. In addition to monthly exhibitions, the gallery also offers a full service bar area with an eclectic list of fine wines and craft beer with several organic varieties to choose from as well as daily specials and free weekly wine tastings on Wednesdays at 6pm. Current Exhibit: "Primal Forces," showing through June 7th, with opening reception on May 23rd, 7pm. A solo exhibition of landscapes and figures featuring Janette Hopper.
Creations By Justine Gallery Creations by Justine Gallery, a working studio and gallery focusing on sculpture, presents "The Art of Assemblage," a show of sculpture made from antiques and clay by Florida artist Melissa Menzer. Melissa salvages bits and pieces of old clocks, tools, cans and broken furniture to create sculptures that reflect the past and are reborn into the present. Now showing an exhibit by resident artist Justine Ferreri called "The Seafood Buffet." Justine will by presenting a menu of seafood sculptures, like shrimp cocktails, clams casino and mermaids as the catch of the day. Both Shows will hang through May. Crescent Moon We have exciting new art glass arriving from new artists this month. Lucid Visions flame-worked pieces of Manta Rays, Sting Rays, Octopus, and sparkling Jellyfish ornaments and new oil lamps from Loretta Eby and Rosetree Glass have arrived. The Gallery at Racine The Gallery @ Racine features a large number of upbeat and renowned artists. You will find the amazing Secret Art of Dr. Seuss, whimsical creatures sculpted from roots and copper by Shaw Lakey, large pottery by Whenzi Zhang and bright paintings and prints by George Pocheptsov. The Golden Gallery The new exhibit at The Golden Gallery is entitled "A Beach Life." It features the watercolors of Mary Ellen Golden and the photography of John W. Golden. You will enjoy pelicans and waves, a foggy journey down the waterway, and views of new and old piers. Share visual memories of the beach and city with those who are far away or nearby. Enjoy our CDs of John C. Golden's music as well as those of Catesby Jones, Anne Haley, Molasses Creek and the Soundside recordings. John W.'s Custom art for kids will let you treat your kids or grandkids to an images of themselves as a pirate, fairy princess, super hero, etc. personalized with their colors of eyes and hair and their name. Don't miss the new Moleskine Sketchbooks and Journals with John's images on them. Check out the latest dogs in John's Fido Collection. It is a great time to shop at the Cotton Exchange and you can even browse ahead of time at our etsy sites. A reception will be held from 6-9pm on May 23rd at the Golden Gallery, located in the O'Brien Building in the Cotton Exchange. Montage Art & Design and Accent on Framing Recently opened under one roof in Leland at Cross Creek Commons is the area's finest selection of art and custom framing. The gallery features local, regional & international artists, as well as three dimensional artisan works. Gallery owner and artist Jonnie' Chardonn hosts every 3rd Friday a Gallery Walk. New Elements Gallery "Paper Works" will open on Friday, May 23rd and run through June 21st featuring the works of Rebecca Humphrey and Susan Mauney. Humphrey is best known for her mixed media pieces using hand cast paper and taught art at James Madison University in Virginia until her recent retirement. Southport resident Susan Mauney works in watercolor and has received numerous awards in national and regional competitions. The exhibition will combine her landscapes, still lifes and figurative work with the more abstract mixed media pieces by Rebecca Humphrey. An opening night reception will be held on Friday, May 23rd from 6-9 pm, which is also a Fourth Friday Gallery Night event in downtown Wilmington. Three Hounds Gallery Three Hounds Gallery will host an opening reception for local artist Virginia Wright Frierson on Friday, May 23rd, 6-8 pm. The exhibit will highlight Frierson's diverse array of subjects and locations ranging from bold, large-scale still life works to European landscape and architectural pieces.
