New to town, journalism major and love copy editing– which only leads me to put in a helpful hint that it’s not “Prada” (also a fashion lover;) ) it’s Pravda on your dance club vote. Happy voting! Can’t wait to see the results so I can continue to figure out where to go around town.

  2. David says:

Where will people be able to vote on the nominees tomorrow?

  3. CNeal says:

Vote for Scott Wagner for Best Bartender and Sister Mary Isaac Koenig for humanitarian!!! Both are really nice people, one is more Godly :)

  4. david says:

Ben boron is who I nominate for best bartender

  5. victoria says:

Also, Benjamin Boron (up for Best Bartender) is a bartender at Jack Mackerel’s Island Grill, but was also at Henry’s Restaurant for eight years, which is where I suspect most people know him from.

  6. Jeff says:

I learned my lesson after voting for Brian Berger. If I don’t know anything about a category…. I skip that vote.
Is there a minimum # of categories you have to vote on in order for your ballot to count?
I hope in categories where local companies are up against chain stores/franchises that voters keep that in mind!

  7. rob says:

This is weird. Maybe I missed something but we only have a few options to chose from. The other years we’re open ended. Who came up with the couple options we have?

    • admin says:

The nomination ballot was on encorepub.com from the end of November until December 19th. After the tally, the top three vote getters were given the nomination.

Java Dog is the best coffee house in town paws down! Not only do they have the best lattes, but they also welcome furry four-legged customers such as myself. I just love hopping in my purse and going to Java Dog, where the friendly staff always greets me with a designer water and all the biscuits I can eat. Plus, I get to visit with my good friend Meg!

  11. linda says:

Why do I have to vote for EACH and EVERY category — I have no idea about 90% of them and only want to vote for the ones I do know & love! Like Bozart Family Dentistry & Casey’s BBQ & Golden Corral!

  12. Robbie Kass says:

Ooops, looks like i missed the opportunity to nominate my favorite businesses again… ps, why are we voting for the best of a year that hasn’t arrived yet? just seems a bit ahead of schedule. anyways good luck to all the nominated businesses this year!

Mary, you must vote on the official ballot. At least 25 categories. Comments on this page will not count toward the final tally.

  18. JPM says:

The best seafood in Wilmington is Fishbites….why is the list limited to those three. Who chooses the competitors? Is it by donations to the magazine?

    • admin says:

The nomination ballot was on encorepub.com from the end of November until December 19th. After the tally, the top three vote getters were given the nomination. Community citizens were the ones who chose the competitors, through their nominations.

I think the “VOTE NOW” might be throwing people off…they don’t realize that they have to click on the “VOTE NOW” to submit their votes…instead they are seeing “Vote Now” and looking below where the comments are, and assuming that’s where you vote…..

You must fill out a ballot! Don’t let your vote go to waste by not voting in the right place!!
